Astro Themes vs Vercel Templates: compare the selection workflow

Compare Astro Themes and Vercel Templates by framework scope, project purpose, source review, and deployment needs before you select a starter.

A website theme browser contrasts with connected application starter blocks.
On this page

Start with Astro Themes when you already chose Astro and need a theme for a defined website purpose. Start with Vercel Templates when you need to inspect a starter's stack and deployment path. Both require a review of the selected project.

HTMLPick publishes this comparison. We reviewed the public catalogues on 3 October 2026. We did not deploy their templates or measure their performance.

What does each catalogue cover?

Astro Themes lists free and premium Astro themes. Its purpose groups include blogs, portfolios, landing pages, and documentation. Its featured section identifies sponsor themes.

Vercel Templates covers several frameworks. It provides filters for use case and technical choices, including databases, authentication, and content systems. Individual project pages provide the applicable preview and deployment information.

The workflow descriptions are our interpretation of those catalogue structures. They are not performance rankings.

When does a theme catalogue help?

A theme catalogue helps when you can state the website's content needs. For example, a publication needs article pages, an archive, and a repeatable editing process.

Write the required page list before you open a preview. Include content that does not appear in the demo. Long headings, missing images, and empty categories can reveal selection problems.

If a blog is the main task, compare the documented content directories and article metadata. The AstroPaper and AstroWind comparison shows a source-based example.

Use the Astro blog archive to continue the search across HTMLPick listings. A framework choice does not replace a source review.

When does a starter catalogue help?

A starter catalogue helps when your requirements include a specific combination of tools or services. Write that combination explicitly before you select a project.

For an account application, identify authentication, data storage, and server requirements. For a publication, identify the content source and editing process. Check what the starter includes and what needs separate configuration.

A deployment button can simplify a documented path. It does not explain every service condition or establish the finished application's security. Read the selected project's setup instructions and service requirements.

Browse Next.js templates on HTMLPick if React and Next.js fit your requirements. The dashboard evaluation guide provides questions about behavior beyond the preview.

Compare deployment requirements before hosting

Use the same record for every candidate:

  1. Identify the documented runtime and build output.
  2. List the required external services.
  3. Record the required environment settings without storing secret values.
  4. Identify the owner of content and software updates.
  5. Read the release and recovery instructions.
  6. Check the applicable service and package terms.

Mark missing documentation as an unresolved requirement. Do not select hosting from the catalogue name alone.

Our framework guide explains why a template's actual server requirements matter. The launch checklist adds content, forms, and release checks.

Keep paid placement separate from evidence

A featured position describes visibility in a catalogue. It does not establish the quality of every included component. Apply the same source checks to featured and ordinary entries.

Read the package licence and asset terms. A free or premium category does not answer every permission question. Confirm the conditions for your intended use with the author.

What should you choose first?

Use Astro Themes for an Astro theme shortlist. Use Vercel Templates when its stack filters help you find a starter for your required setup.

Record the author project and reviewed version in either case. Make the final choice from your page, service, and maintenance requirements.
